Configure Domain

To point your custom domain to Rack Manage:

  1. In the "Domains" section of your account settings, set "Domain Type" to "Whitelabel Domain", then enter the domain you would like to use. After saving the settings, you will be provided a list of DNS records.

  2. Add the provided CNAME and TXT records to your DNS provider.

    • Use the "View DNS Status" button in your account settings page to view the status of your domain.

🛈 You may configure your domain by pointing only a CNAME to whitelabel.rackmanage.io. If you have already pointed a CNAME record before adding the domain to your account, you may not be asked to add any TXT records, however, this approach may result in downtime as your domain must be verified via CNAME before we can start routing traffic.

⚠️ To minimize downtime, we recommend adding the TXT records to your account before adding the CNAME record, allowing us to verify your domain and issue certificates before you start routing any traffic to Rack Manage.

  1. Wait up to 48 hours for your domain to process. We'll be ready to host your domain the minute you add it to your account, but your DNS provider may take time updating your records. We will attempt to verify your domain 100+ times over the course of a week before giving up.

SSL/TLS Certificates

When adding your custom domain to Rack Manage, you may be asked to add a TXT record (_acme-challenge) to your DNS provider. This record is used to generate an SSL certificate for your custom domain. After your domain has successfully been added to Rack Manage, Rack Manage will use web challenges to continuously verify and renew your SSL certificate. This process is completely automated and you will not need to do anything to keep your SSL certificate valid.

Rack Manage issues a SSL certificate for your custom domain through Google Trust Services or Let's Encrypt. This certificate is not shared by any other Rack Manage services or customers. At this time, Rack Manage does not support custom SSL certificates.

⚠️ Note for Cloudflare Customers

Page Rules, Web Application Firewall, and SSL settings may interfere or conflict with Rack Manage. See Cloudflare’s Product Compatibility document for a list of conflicting settings.

For the best compatibility with Rack Manage, we recommend disabling Cloudflare proxying by turning off the orange cloud on your CNAME record to avoid any potential conflicts.
